13th CMUC New Star Cup — Event Recap: The Winners Are In
Two days, one stage, and the next generation of Chinese magic. On October 24–25, 2026, the 13th CMUC New Star Magic Competition — held alongside the 8th Beijing College Students Magic Exchange Convention — took the stage at the Lao She Theater of the Beijing Federation of Literary and Art Circles. The competition is guided and supported by the Beijing Acrobatics Association and hosted by the Beijing College Magic Union Alliance (CMUC). Missed the pre-event program? Full details are here →
The Competition
Eleven young magicians from across China and abroad competed across two categories — close-up and stage. Acts ranged from classic coin and card routines to ancient Chinese gucai xifa sleight, color-changing productions, and narrative cardistry-driven pieces, each performer telling their own story in a few minutes on stage.

The Jury
The judging panel — Wang Limin, Xu Qiu, Xu Fengmei, Qu Lei and Wen Peiran — evaluated every act on creativity, stage presentation, pacing and artistry, and gave the new generation direct, professional feedback.
Lectures & Salon
Beyond the stage, the weekend was built around exchange. In the Young Magicians Lecture Series, Wen Peiran shared lessons from years of touring performance; Guo Haowei broke down the full journey of building an original act from idea to stage; Zeng Naixiong demonstrated his original high-tech mentalism; and Zu Ming walked through turning scattered ideas into finished, working pieces.
The 2026 Beijing College Magic Alliance Offline Salon brought magicians, students and longtime fans into one open conversation — covering magic culture on campus, club communities, and where young Chinese magic is heading — with Wen Peiran, Liu Quan, Zeng Naixiong, Zu Ming, Ren Hai and Bi Yulou among the guests.
Prop Market & Exhibition
Running in parallel: a magic props exhibition and secondhand market, hosting GBDL, Good Plus Magic Workshop, Hyde Ren, LT Magic, Bacon Magic and Dream Factory. It was great to meet so many of you at the Bacon Magic booth in person.
